Zoe hails originally - minus one head - from the green mountains of Tasmania, Australia.
She moved over to Victoria with her family to the Yarra Valley an hour outside Melbourne in 1996, two weeks to the day before the Port Arthur Massacre.
While she spent her childhood and the first part of teenagehood at a district high school in Woodbridge 25 minutes south of Hobart, after the move she spent Year 8 and Year 9 at Healesville - affectionately named Holesville - High School.
She joined Scouts, then Venturer Scouts for a few years before running out of knots to tie and taking up ballroom dancing instead.
She also appeared as the "really long brown haired indian girl" on stage during the musical "How The West Was Warped" for three shows, wich can be found on a tape sitting on the dusty shelf of the director who later died in a head on collision with a truck on a highway.
In 1998 she changed schools and did Year 10, 11 and completed Year 12 at Lilydale Heights Secondary College.
In Year 11 she was offered a position as Assistant Editor of the school rag, and became close friends with Apple computers during this time.
Sick of her weekend job cleaning dishes at the local cafe in Yarra Glen, in Year 12 she quit her $12 an hour job and started a voluntary job on radio at Yarra Valley FM (formerly VYV) Sunday afternoons, despite family debate.
At the end of 2000 she was given an award at her VCE graduation for her services to the magazine - mostly because she had nothing better to do but hang out in the graphics teacher's office each lunch hour with the spunky layout dudes - and has since utilised the skills aquired for graphics, layouting and proofreading work.
Soon after finishing high school her family moved down south to Anglesea, she changed radio stations and started with 3YYR 94.7 The Pulse - the then Geelong Radio 100.3.
She remained there for a few years doing Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon drivetime until a change of programming for all youth timeslots meant all the superstar youth jocks were bung altogether on one four hour slot Fridays.
At the beginning on 2002 aged 19 she left home and moved to Hampton, near Sandringham in Melbourne and started a Diploma of Social Science - Communication (Professional Writing and Editing), wich she completed at the end of 2003.
After blowing up a few Coke cans on air and stomping on a few bags of chips for entertainment, she upped and left The Pulse in Geelong for the high life of Melbourne radio at 88.3 Southern FM in Moorabbin.
The diploma got her straight into a Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) at Swinburne University... but sadly she bombed out at the end of her first year due to a combination of wisdom tooth-triggered headaches from hell, and being appointed to the board of management as Southern FM's Youth Director.
Mid 2004 she attended the Annual CBAA radio conference on an all expenses paid trip with another board member at the GCI in Surfer's Paradise on the Gold Coast in Queensland. A very good time was had...
A fair bit of flying was done that year - soon after returning she was back in Queensland in Brisbane again to see friends in Enoggera and Beenleigh.
Being freed up for the first time in her life after dropping out of uni and having no job officially she started taking on designing graphics for websites, etc.
In late June in 2005 she was taken to Box Hill and hospitalised overnight for emergency surgery on her elbow after breaking it in a railway subway whilst rushing to an Centrelink-spawned appointment at a job agency (see Live Journal memories page, or the entry posted on June 29th, 2005 in the archives).
This put severe dints in any work prospects, as k-wire and what were dubbed the "evil twin pins" were in place in her arm for several months until the bone healed enough to have them surgically removed.
Months of physio ensued, and a final appointment in August 2006 with an orthopaedic surgeon spelt the end of the recovery process for the most part... but a giant scar remains.
Taking up some data and administration work within the telecommunications industry in the city in 2007, it didn't take long before it became clear it was time to move on from Melbourne. In fact, since the beginning of 2008, she has done an enormous amount of travel both in and around Victoria, and interstate.
So it was no surprise when in August 2008 she left Victoria, moved interstate and together with her dude, moved into a apartment in the ex-Olympic Village of the Sydney 2000 Games.
Meanwhile, she continues to take on administrative/media related work.
